The Conergy module factory: Conergy’s heart and soul
Conergy has been manufacturing high-quality crystalline solar modules in Frankfurt (Oder) for close to five years. Since the start of production in May 2007, over two million Conergy PowerPlus premium modules have come off the line already and have been producing clean and environmentally friendly solar power in 16 countries around the world.
No compromise on product quality
The Frankfurt plant is one of the most modern solar factories worldwide. 377 employees ensure that the manufacturing process runs smoothly. With a production capacity of over 250 MW, over 3,100 top class modules come off the line every day. The well thought out arrangement of the five assembly lines in a single hall reduces transport distances and, in conjunction with the very high level of automation, contributes significantly to minimising breakages of the fragile cells.
In collaboration with renowned research organisations, institutes and universities, the technologists and engineers at Conergy work to continuously improve processes, increase module efficiency and reduce material costs. The clear motto of the entire production team: no compromise on module quality.
Accordingly, the Conergy PowerPlus modules don’t only undergo strict quality checks in the factory. The solar modules including their components are subject to extensive testing in our in-house laboratories, clean rooms and climatic chambers. They are then granted their official quality certificates from independent testing organisations, such as the TÜV.
Inspected, tested and approved
The Conergy PowerPlus modules are type certified to international standards IEC/EN 61215 Ed. 2 (testing for module quality, longevity and reliability) and IEC/EN 61730 (testing for electrical and mechanical safety). In addition, they impress through excellent weak light behaviour and outstanding resilience with respect to fluctuating climatic conditions, corrosion, hail as well as ammonia and salt mist. As a result, the modules are guaranteed to deliver power for 25 years. Due to the positive performance tolerance they will actually deliver up to 3 per cent more performance than people pay for.
The site itself has also been awarded a quality seal. Conergy SolarModule GmbH & Co. KG has been certified to standards ISO 9001:2008 and 14001:2004 by TÜV Rheinland since 2010. This means that the Frankfurt plant has a quality- and environmental management system documented for all departments that ensures consistent quality of the highest standard in its products and services.
