2.37 MW: Groundbreaking of first all-Conergy solar park in Asia

Conergy builds a 2.37 megawatt solar park for Indorama Ventures in Lop Buri, 155 km north of Bangkok. This is the very first solar plant in Asia that exclusively uses 100% of Conergy’s system technology. With this new megawatt project Conergy not only sets a new milestone for its quality components in Asia, but also continues its success story in Thailand with its second megawatt solar park within 8 months together with its consortium partner for Thailand, Annex Power.

Conergy creditors agree on substantial debt reduction and strengthening of equity capital

Conergy is making a new financial start: The solar energy company’s creditors have reached an agreement with the company to reduce the company’s debt substantially, with some creditors providing equity capital. The refinancing package that has now been signed will reduce Conergy’s debt by € 188 million, markedly lowering the company’s future interest burden. The remaining € 135 million credit facility has been extended by another four years at market terms. Financial covenants only apply after three years.

Conergy sells its Swiss solar thermal business to Capital Stage AG

Conergy AG is selling its Swiss solar thermal products business to Capital Stage AG, a private-equity company specialising in projects in the clean-tech sector. With the sale, all shares in Conergy's Swiss subsidiary Conergy (Schweiz) GmbH pass to Capital Stage. Conergy (Schweiz) GmbH is a local market leader in solar thermal technology and active in other regenerative energy fields in Switzerland. The company name will change to Helvetic Solar GmbH.

Conergy PowerPlus modules receive top marks at worldwide first large hailstone test

The Conergy PowerPlus module had already created a stir with outstanding results in the ammonia and salt fog tests, as well as with its superior load capacity of 5,400 Pascal – the equivalent of 11 people standing on top of it. A newly devised large hailstones test of the Institute Cetecom ICT Services further highlights the top quality of the premium module of Hamburg-based Conergy AG. The test did not just entail a bombardment of the modules in eleven different locations with 25 mm diameter hailstones at impact speeds of 82.8 km/h. These tests went a lot further with hailstones of over twice the diameter at much higher impact speeds.

Conergy sells French and German wind project business to Impax Fund

German solar system manufacturer Conergy AG, today announces that it has signed an agreement to sell its German and French wind development and operating assets to an investment fund managed by Impax Asset Management (“Impax”), one of the leading specialist managers of listed and private equity funds dedicated to the renewable sector in Europe. No financial details of the transaction are being announced.

Nine-month figures for 2010: Once again, Conergy boosts sales and gross profit margin

In the third quarter of 2010 Conergy managed to nearly double its sales, from € 138.8 million to € 275.3 million, with personnel costs remaining more or less steady. The sale of the largest solar plant in Germany equipped with Conergy system technology was one of the factors responsible for that trend. Contributing nearly as much to the sales trend was sound international business, spurred on in particular by strong sales in Europe. Conergy also managed to double its gross profit, which rose from €32.7 million to €64.1 million.

Independent Business Review recommends reduction of debt level

The Management Board of Conergy AG has received a “Final Draft” of the independent business review from an audit firm commissioned in August 2010. Conergy and its banks agreed upon this in the refinancing talks in July 2010 according to the adhoc release dated 29 July 2010. The review concludes that Conergy AG’s debt-to-equity ratio is too high and deems a restructuring of the Company's balance sheet necessary.

Italy follows Greece: Conergy concludes a 9MW framework agreement in Italy

After signing a 32 MW framework agreement in Greece lately, the largest of the Hellenic solar history, the Conergy group now secures another 9 MW contract with the Italian Uni Land Spa Group of a total investment volume of around 32 million Euros. Conergy will build a total of nine large-scale solar installations of 1 MW each – all equipped with their own in-house manufactured system technology.

VisionBox: Own power consumption by Conergy – now available commercially

In spring, Conergy started the first Germany-wide own power consumption pilot project – and now the Hamburg-based solar group will bring its yet again expanded own power consumption solution consisting of the Conergy VisionBox and Conergy SunReader Portal onto the regular market. Numerous test customers have so far experienced the own power consumption solution from Hamburg - and the conclusion? “We are extremely satisfied with the experiences so far”, says Norbert Apfel, Managing Director of Conergy Germany. “The project shows two big advantages of the conscious handling of the own energy consumption: First, there is a monetary advantage since, thanks to the VisionBox, many testers were immediately able to exceed the 30% threshold and thus benefit from higher subsidies and an attractive return. And second, the more intelligent handling of the produced energy at peak load times as well as the better utilization of the grid both of which support further the use of renewable energy sources”, adds Apfel.

Conergy Supervisory Board: Norbert Schmelzle again appointed as chairman

In its constitutive session held yesterday immediately after the Annual General Meeting of Conergy AG the supervisory board of the company has confirmed Norbert Schmelzle as its chairman. This role was held by him already since 19 July 2010. By the election of Dieter Ammer the company’s supervisory board has regained its statutory size of six members.

Conergy France brings light to the Moroccan desert

For the third time in a row, Conergy France is a partner of the “Trophée Roses des Sables” charitable desert rallye in Morocco. From October 7-16, 2010, the solar experts will be supporting the non-profit organization “Children of the desert” (“Enfants du désert”). This organization aims to provide desert villages in Morocco that are secluded and cut off from the electricity grid with clean solar energy and improve the quality of life of the children and poor families who live there. In the Moroccan villages of Lakhraouia and Oum El Hadj, Conergy equips two schools and eight residential buildings with small solar energy systems.

Hamburg-based Conergy has installed and sold Germany's largest solar park built with its own, in-house manufactured system technology. The buyer of the solar plant in the Bavarian market community of Thüngen is Darmstadt-based HSE. The groundbreaking 19-megawatt solar plant covers an area of nearly 40 hectares – making it five times as big as FC Bayern's entire soccer stadium in Munich.

New Solar Technology: Conergy increases cell efficiency in Frankfurt (Oder)

With its new production installations for solar cells, Conergy will be able to increase the efficiency of its PowerPlus modules in the Frankfurt (Oder) factory and further expand its manufacturing capacities at the same time. Specialists are in the process of integrating the machines into the existing production facilities. Once installed, the so-called "OneStep Selective Emitter" technology will enable increases in efficiency of up to 0.5 percentage points. The modern equipment is provided by Manz Automation AG, Reutlingen. Conergy is one of the first users worldwide – and it will be one of the first companies in the world to use the pioneering technology in its mass production. The company is investing some five million euros for this purpose.

Conergy inaugurates largest solar park in northern Germany

Together with representatives from politics and industry, Conergy inaugurated the 6 megawatt solar power plant in northern Germany today in Tarp near Flensburg. Member of the state parliament and chairman of the SPD energy committee Olaf Schulze, local investors and Conergy Germany boss Norbert Apfel officially launched operation of the solar park with the symbolic pressing of the red button. With this, Tarp supersedes the plant in Hörup, which previously held the record for the largest continuous solar park in northern Germany. Conergy had already worked together successfully with the same local investors.

32 MW: Conergy concludes largest framework agreement in Greek solar energy history

A safe system: Conergy’s large-scale projects now with its own output insurance

An all-round sleep-easy package with guaranteed output for an all-round safe investment for every investor – this is no longer a pipedream for the future, but has now been transformed into reality by Conergy: Starting immediately, the Hamburg-based company is becoming the first solar company to offer a Europe-wide output insurance in addition to the all-risks and business interruption insurance commonly available. These insurances already covered claims for output decreases resulting from external influences, for example a lack of solar irradiation. The new Conergy insurance, on the contrary, covers more than that though. This new sleep-easy insurance offers customers a ten-year protection against output decreases stemming from components or configuration defects, degradation and the delamination of modules for example.

Dr. Sebastian Biedenkopf to be new CFO at Conergy starting in November

The Supervisory Board of Conergy AG has settled on the successor of CFO Dr. Jörg Spiekerkötter, who at his own request is leaving his office upon expiry of his contract at the end of October 2010. Dr. Sebastian Biedenkopf was named by the Supervisory Board as Spiekerkötter’s successor. The former General Counsel will take over the finance department as of November 1, 2010, and already from September 1, 2010, will ensure a proper transition as a member of the Board of Directors at the side of Spiekerkötter.

Clean Saarland: Conergy and Installation Partner, Elektro Jäckel, on the path to success

The successful collaboration between Conergy and its installation partner, Elektro Jäckel, set a new benchmark for solar power in this small federal state bordering Luxembourg and France earlier this year with the largest interconnected rooftop facility in Saarland to date, producing one megawatt of power. Now, another joint project is to follow: the two companies have just completed another 350 kW rooftop facility for the Orth bus company in Losheim am See – just under 200 m from Saarland's largest rooftop facility.

2nd quarter of 2010: Conergy returns to net profit

The solar company Conergy has significantly increased its sales again in the second quarter of 2010, reaching € 239.4m. This means the Hamburg company was able to improve sales by approximately 50% compared to the prior-year quarter, or by 60% compared to the first quarter of 2010. The main driver of this trend was the broad global demand for solar technology, especially in Germany over the past few months.

All six: Conergy constructs solar parks number 5 and 6 within 3 months

Conergy Italy has further success with two more solar parks in Apulia. A total of 7,000 Conergy PowerPlus modules have been installed on Conergy SolarLinea mounting systems in the two parks in Parabita and Nardo. The six Conergy IPG 300K inverters in the three Conergy CIS 540 central inverter stations feed the clean energy produced into the regional grid. The construction of these two parks during the past three months brings the number of solar energy plants constructed by Conergy in Apulia to six – with the twin parks in San Marzano and the two plants at the beach resorts of the BluSerena hotel group in Torre di Canne and Ginosa also making exclusive use of Conergy components.

Brown field in bloom: Conergy builds second megawatt park in the Czech Republic

In next to no time, the Conergy Group began construction of their second Czech solar park in the megawatt category. The 1.48 megawatt solar power plant is being built with Conergy components near Velký Týnec, about 80 km to the north-east of the Czech Republic's second-largest city Brno.

Preliminary results: Conergy raises outlook for 2010 after significantly improved operative results in the second quarter

Conergy AG today published its preliminary results for the second quarter of 2010. Compared to the same quarter of 2009, the company raised its sales by about 50% to EUR 239.4m from EUR 160.9m. At the same time, EBITDA increased by EUR 41.4m to EUR 18.5m, compared to a loss of EUR -22.9m in the second quarter of last year, making this the third consecutive quarter of operational profitability for Conergy. EBIT rose by EUR 40m to EUR 11.7m At EUR 7.9m, the company also posted the first positive net result again in its continuing operations.

Conergy reaches agreement with banks - Ammer appointed for additional three months

Today, Hamburg based Conergy AG reached an agreement with its financing banks to extend its loans to the end of 2011. As such, the consortium of banks is continuing to support Conergy in the successful operational development. The company expects to return to an annual operating profit again this year. The loan was basically due on 31 July 2010. In addition, the parties have agreed to postpone payments of the three remaining instalments of the term loan, also to the end of 2011. This will enable the company to realise the growth targets it has set.

Norbert Schmelzle new Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Conergy

Eckhard Spoerr has resigned his position as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Conergy AG. His resignation is at his request and for personal reasons. Mr. Spoerr has simultaneously resigned from all Supervisory Board functions of the solar energy company with immediate effect. The Supervisory Board has elected Spoerr’s deputy, Norbert Schmelzle, as the new Chairman. Schmelzle has been a member of the Supervisory Board since 2009.

Crete: Conergy Greece builds 9 solar parks

Conergy Greece has completed 9 solar parks on Crete, the biggest and most touristic Hellenic island. The installations are located at different areas of the island in the Prefectures of Chania and Lasithi. Most of the solar plants are equipped with Conergy’s own technology. The solar experts have installed more than 2,500 Conergy PowerPlus Modules on Conergy SolarGigant and Conergy SolarLinea mounting systems. A total of 90 Conergy IPG 5 S inverters feed-in the clean sun power into the public grid of the touristic island.

Sunny skies: Conergy to build five solar installations for Italian beach resorts

Conergy’s solar experts from Hamburg are set to build five solar installations with a total power output of 3.6 MW for the well-known Italian hotel group, BluSerena. Conergy will install the power plants in the group’s five beach resorts. The Italian hotel chain will power up to three-quarters of its hotel rooms using clean solar electricity, which has been “Made in Germany”, thereby saving up to 78% of electricity costs. In addition, it will be able to benefit from guaranteed state funding. The prestigious project shows that Conergy is on course for further successes in Italy and there is strong demand for its systems technology in the country.

First Bavaria, now Brandenburg: Conergy hands over second solar park to solar-konzept

Conergy makes good on double deal with solar-konzept GmbH: the Hamburg-based company will hand over the completed 1.4 MW solar park in Altdöbern, in the federal state of Brandenburg to the investor on June 17. The solar enterprise had already sold its 2.4 MW power plant in Heimpersdorf (Bavaria) to the same client in 2009. The 18,144 solar modules, mounted in three rows on 7.5 km of Conergy SolarLinea mounting systems, feed clean power into the public grid – around 1.4 million kWh per year. As a result, over 600 households in the county of Oberspreewald-Lausitz, and therefore more than a quarter of the population of Altdöbern is supplied with solar power.

Done! Schermbeck solar park connected to grid in record time

Today Schermbeck is making ‘sunny’ history: the town’s new Conergy solar power plant will start supplying several hundred households in and around Schermbeck with green power today. The solar park of Wilhelm and Stephan Küpper comes online roughly two weeks before the scheduled commissioning date – and therefore well in time before the planned amendment to the German Renewable Energies Act (EEG), which will include a reduction in public funding for solar power plants.

With a load capacity of 5,400 Pascal, the Conergy PowerPlus module is firmly placed among the best of its class. That means the module can withstand a weight load of 550 kilograms per square meter. Or in other words: more than eleven people could safely stand on top of the panel without causing any damage. The Conergy module can therefore withstand the most extreme ambient conditions – including high snow wind loads – and that even though it among the lightest of its class. The experts at Conergy have put a lot of work into further optimising the premium module: it is now significantly easier to handle with its weight reduced by around 10% to manageable 19.6 kg. High yields even in low-light conditions – with Conergy PowerPlus modules, this is no longer just wishful thinking, but solar reality. Conergy Premium modules refute the wide-spread opinion that solar modules work less efficiently in low-light conditions. The opposite is true for Conergy modules, which feature excellent low-light behaviour – a fact that has been confirmed by the TÜV measurements. Their efficiency actually increases with decreasing solar irradiation, and plant operators can produce up to 3% more yield with Conergy PowerPlus modules than calculated with the established simulation tools.

Czech Republic: Conergy is building the first megawatt project with its own system technology

The Conergy Group has started construction on its first megawatt solar park in the Czech Republic. The Hamburg-based solar-energy group is erecting the 1.1-megawatt power plant with Conergy's own system technology near the city of Louny, roughly 80 km northwest of the capital, Prague. Conergy intends to complete the plant as early as July. Once completed, the plant will be the largest solar installation in Louny and the surrounding area.

Conergy: sales almost tripled, positive operating result for the second time running

Conergy AG has continued its positive development in the 1st quarter of 2010: the solar company increased its sales by 165% to EUR 150.3m in the months of January to March 2010 (prior-year quarter: EUR 56.7m). In the same period, the systems manufacturer was able to achieve a positive operating result for the second time running: Conergy recorded positive EBITDA of EUR 7.3m in the 1st quarter of 2010 (previous year: EUR -19.1m). In terms of EBIT, this reporting period saw Conergy get back into the black for the first time – and it was able to increase this result from EUR -25m the previous year to EUR 0.3m. The Management Board expects to see significant improvements in sales and an above-average increase in earnings in the current year and next year.

Italian double at San Marzano: Conergy sells two solar parks in Apulia

Conergy’s solar experts have successfully sold two Italian solar parks with a power output of 1 megawatt each to Plain Energy GmbH. Südtiroler Sparkasse AG (Cassa di Risparmio di Bolzano) as well as the Italian Raiffeisenbank (Cassa Centrale Raiffeisen) have financed the parks located in Apulia in Southern Italy. The twin parks have already been connected to the grid and are feeding in around 2,800 MWh of clean sun power per year. This corresponds to the annual consumption of approximately 560 households and annually avoids the emission of around 1,300 tons of CO2. Thus, the two parks avoid approximately 26,000 tons of the harmful greenhouse gas seen in their complete term.

Schermbeck goes green: Conergy builds environmentally-friendly photovoltaic plant for private investor

The date is set: On May 6 at 10 a.m., investors Wilhelm and Stephan Küpper and Schermbeck's Mayor Ernst-Christoph Grüter (Christian Democrat) will break the ground for the city's new solar power station on Lohstege. Further growth in Asia: Conergy builds one of the largest photovoltaic plants in India

The Hamburg company Conergy AG has erected in India one of the largest photovoltaic plants in the country. With the 3-megawatt-strong power plant, Conergy will contribute considerably to the power supply of the local rural population around the small city of Itnal situated in the province of Karnataka in the future. As in many remote regions, the power supply in Itnal was very limited in the past: Only 120 households on site even had access to electricity. Power blackouts were commonplace. And the residents were only able to operate the irrigation pumps for their fields and gardens at most three to four hours a day.

From April 2010, the Hamburg-based solar specialists will be launching their Conergy IPG T series onto the market – a new generation of string inverters in the output classes 8, 11 and 15 kW.This means that Conergy’s portfolio now includes its own in-house produced top-quality and highly efficient inverter products for all the relevant system sizes and market segments.In the solar energy sector, Conergy is the only system manufacturer to combine all the key solar system components in its own production under one roof and to turn these into highly efficient Conergy solar systems. Conergy will introduce its new string inverters to a broad public audience at Intersolar trade fair in Munich.

Conergy postpones publication of final 2009 results

Conergy AG postpones the publication of its final 2009 results, which was scheduled for 25 March 2010. This is due to continuing talks with the 19 creditor banks on the planned refinancing. The company expects these talks, which have been constructive thus far, to be concluded by mid-April. The company confirms the preliminary 2009 results published on 18 February 2010.

Conergy is building Southeast Asia’s largest private photovoltaic plant

The Conergy Group has begun constructing the largest commercially-operated photovoltaic plant in Thailand on behalf of Yanhee Solar. The 3-megawatt park will be built in Ayutthaya, about 70 kilometers from the capital, Bangkok. Conergy Singapore is responsible for planning, development, acquisition of components and general supervision of the project. The new photovoltaic plant once again strengthens Conergy’s outstanding position in the emerging Asian solar market. The Hamburg-based solar specialists will carry out the construction project along with its Thai exclusive partner, Annex Power.

Conergy appoints marketing and sales professional Andreas Wilsdorf to the Board of Directors

Two years of intensive restructuring measures at Conergy AG are bearing fruit in the form of a significantly improved operating result in 2009. Despite the financial and economic crisis and sharp decline in demand from the Spanish market, the Hamburg company generated earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of EUR -10.8m in 2009, compared with EUR -147.3m the previous year.

The Conergy solar module factory in Frankfurt (Oder) today nailed its colors to the mast and pledged its support to Germany as a high-tech location, speaking out in front of representatives from the media against sudden and disproportionate cuts in government grants for solar panels in Germany. Throughout Germany, thousands of employees from the solar industry demonstrated against the severe cuts announced by Environment Minister Dr. Norbert Röttgen (CDU) and for a future with solar energy “Made in Germany”.
